Java Math.asin() method

The java.lang.Math.asin() is used to calculate the trigonometric Arc Sine of an angle. Arc Sine is also called as inverse of a Sine. This method returns the values between -Π / 2 and Π /2.

Syntax

Parameter

Return

If the argument is positive or negative number, this method will return the Arc Sine value.
If the argument is NaN or outside the range -1 and 1, this method will return NaN.
If the argument is zero, this method will return zero with the same sign as the argument.

Example 1

  public class AsinExample1  {      public static void main(String[] args)       {          double a = 1.0;          System.out.println(Math.asin(a));      }  }

Output:

1.5707963267948966

Example 2

  public class AsinExample2  {      public static void main(String[] args)       {          double a = -1.0;          System.out.println(Math.asin(a));      }  }  

Test it Now

Output:

-1.5707963267948966

Example 3

  public class AsinExample3  {      public static void main(String[] args)       {          double a = 1.820;          // value of a is greater than 1 so Output is NaN          System.out.println(Math.asin(a));      }  }  

Test it Now

Output:

NaN

Example 4

  public class AsinExample4  {      public static void main(String[] args)       {          double a = Math.PI;          // return NaN because Math.PI value is 3.414 that is greater than 1          System.out.println(Math.asin(a));      }  }  

Test it Now

Output:

NaN

Example 5

  public class AsinExample5  {      public static void main(String[] args)       {          double a = Math.PI;          double b = Math.toRadians(a);          System.out.println(Math.asin(b));      }  }  

Test it Now

Output:

0.054858647341251204
